Bangladesh Test team captain Shakib Al Hasan and vice-captain Liton Das will play in the IPL after playing the only Test in the ongoing series against Ireland . However, they have to join the national team before the ODI series against Ireland in England.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan said this after the three-match ODI series against Ireland at Sylhet International Stadium today .
BCB president said in reference to giving no-objection letter to these two cricketers for IPL, ‘When they are called for the IPL auction, they have asked us before when they are available. We informed them and knowing this they took them into the team. There has been no change in our decision since then. The decision is what it was.’
Although the IPL started on March 31, Nazmul Hasan said that Shakib-Litton will play in the Test against Ireland from April 4 in Dhaka. We have made it clear. We still stand by that decision. I do not see any possibility of changing the decision.’
However, another cricketer from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman, who got a chance in the IPL, will be able to join the IPL earlier as he is not considered by the Test team.
BCB has given clearance to cricketers to play IPL from April 8 to May 1. In other words, Shakib and Liton will join the IPL after playing the Mirpur Test against Ireland.
The condition is that they have to leave the IPL and join the national team before the ODI series in England against Ireland in May. Mustafiz must also come back.
Earlier, however, it was known that although Mostafiz was given the opportunity to play in the IPL from the beginning, BCB will give no-objection letters to Shakib and Liton for different periods. In that case, coach Chandika Hathurusinghe is working on who can replace him in the one-off Test at home and later in the ODI series against Ireland at Chelmsford.
