Steph Curry, who heard MVP chants at Barclays, led the way with 37 mesmerizing points on nine 3-pointers, outdueling former Warriors star Kevin Durant in a battle of the two leading NBA MVP candidates and top two scorers in the league this season. Durant finished with 19 quiet points.
With the win, the Warriors (12-2) made a loud statement to the rest of the NBA and fans everywhere: They are for real and they aren’t going anywhere.
Klay Thompson, who now is playing 5-on-5 as he nears his return to the Warriors’ lineup, was one of many to react on Twitter to the win.
The Warriors close out the road trip with games in Detroit and Cleveland on Thursday and Friday, respectively. If they take care of business against the rebuilding Pistons and Cavaliers, they will return home with a 14-2 record.
